Managing Responsibility

Altria Group's Board of Directors and management team provide leadership and oversight to its operating companies in key areas of the business including how they relate to the world around them.

Martin J. Barrington, Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance and Administrative Officer, oversees the work of Altria Group and its companies to understand and address current and emerging societal alignment and reputation issues.  He also oversees Altria Group's efforts to pursue its business objectives with integrity and in full compliance with Altria Group's Code of Conduct for Compliance and Integrity. He provides direction to and oversight of Altria Group's corporate contributions and employee volunteerism efforts, through which Altria Group and its companies share their resources in the communities where employees live and work. Each operating company then uses this framework to responsibly pursue their business objectives.

Management within Altria Group and its companies are evaluated and rewarded for their efforts relating to societal alignment, compliance and integrity, and legal and regulatory affairs, in addition to other business performance criteria.
